Just got the news that one of our products , Red-Piranha , is in line for a Digital Media Award.
While it’s good that the Red Piranha project is being recognised, these guys have some thoughts on the awards process in general.
Should we enter anyway and reap the marketing benefits? what this space to find out.
I suppose you could use the ‘award’ for marketing kudos from people who don’t know anything about it. Of course, in that case give me 100 bucks and I’ll print you a cert from the ‘Irish Electronic Media Awards’ or some other made-up name!!
I had a call from them today looking for a decision and I said no. It’s not so much the money, I’m going to the IIA awards, which the ticket is more expensive for, it’s that I object to being solicited to PAY to APPLY for an award. It’s an oxymoron, and what’s more, it’s a scam, and doesn’t help our industry gain any credibility.
Anyway … that’s just me, of course you’ll get marketing cred for any awards you have, and it is tempting from that point.
